Hey Everyone!!!!! Sorry about the delay posting the results of the High School Climate Challenge. Things have been pretty hectic since the beginning of COP15 (the climate negotiations in Copenhagen). We wanted to thank everyone for their overwhelming support of our mission to get high school students from across the province engaged in the very serious issue of climate change. Without further delay, here are the top five schools...
5.) College Jean Sauve 13%
4.) Kelvin 24%
3.) Elmwood 29%
2.) River East Collegiate 36%
And the winner is...
Le College Louis-Riel with
56% of their student body signing the KYOTO
plus petition!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations to all of the schools and rest assured, the voices of the youth of Manitoba have not been ignored. On December 7th our names along with over
150,000 other concerned Canadians were handed over to Jim Prentice, Stephen Harper and the leaders of the Climate negotiations. It has sent strong message to the world that Canadian citizens want to see change. We want to be leaders in the fight against climate change!
Thanks again and keep checking the Manitoba Eco-network youth pages for more events and ways to stay involved!
Game On!For one week, during the week of Nov. 16th, high schools in Manitoba will be competing against one another to get signatures for the KyotoPlus petition. This petition calls on the Canadian Government to take action on climate change. At the end of the week, the petitions will be collected and sent off to our leaders before the UN climate summit. The school with the most signatures will win!
